In memoriam: Steve Leech

It is with great sadness that we inform you that our much-loved colleague Steve Leech died of cancer during the night of 3 April. Steve worked for Eekels Pompen with great passion and enormous dedication for more than 40 years. We are so very thankful for his contributions to the company during all those years. Due in part to his knowledge, ingenuity and innovative view of the future, we have been able to achieve a great deal in the past 5 years.

Dedication and passion

We can say, without a doubt, that he was one of the main contributors to the renewal of Eekels Pompen. We have succeeded in restoring the company’s élan and vigour, which Steve was always so proud of. Despite the fact that Steve had struggled with his health for some time, he definitely did not want to burden us with his problems, because he thought they were irrelevant. As soon as he was released from the hospital, the telephone began ringing again and he pepped right up. Because pumps, especially the Betsy pumps, were absolutely his thing. You could see it in his face, and you knew it when he added the words “great, isn't it?” like only Steve could do. Then you knew he was in his element.

Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones

We are lucky to have shared so many wonderful moments with him. His death comes much too early, but in spite of this, the beautiful memories will remain with us forever. We will deeply miss his warm presence, his anecdotes, his stories and, don't forget, his great sense of humour and hearty laugh. We will keep Steve Leech’s family and loved ones in our thoughts, and we wish them strength and peace while they grieve his loss.
