NEW: ATEX Pumps

Expansion of the ATEX rental fleet with explosion-proof stainless steel pumps.

The petrochemical and chemical industry is an important part of Eekels’ customer base. The location of our site in Barendrecht close to the industrial area around Europoort was strategically chosen and, in Geleen, we even have a support office within the boundaries of the Chemelot industrial complex. We are fully geared up to meet the high standards demanded by industrial customers: for example, safety is a first priority and our employees have all the required qualifications and received appropriate training.

ATEX zones

Explosive gas mixtures may be present in certain areas within petrochemical and chemical companies. These areas are called ATEX zones. Work may only be carried out in these explosion-hazardous environments using explosion-safe equipment; i.e. equipment that will not ignite the explosive atmosphere. This equipment must comply with the ATEX directive and is specifically designed in a way that limits or shields hot or sparking components to prevent explosions. In the case of pump sets, this not only applies to the pump itself, but also to the electric motor, switchgear, floats, couplings, plugs, etc. ATEX equipment is identified by the EX logo on the identification plate.

NEW

Eekels offers various ATEX pump sets in its rental fleet, for diverse applications such as a sewer bypass, wastewater or work in storage tanks. In addition to electric pump sets, there is also a range of air-driven ATEX diaphragm pumps. Our ATEX range was also recently expanded to include electric 4” and 6” stainless steel pump sets for pumping aggressive and corrosive chemical liquids in ATEX zones. The pump sets are dry self-priming and offer high capacities up to as much as 600 m3/hour. A substantial free passage size of 76 mm and level control (floats) make the pump sets ideal for temporary bypasses in sewer systems to allow refurbishment work. In addition, they are fully certified for “ATEX zone 1”!
