Eekels Pumps tests cooling water system

Heerema Fabrication Group is currently building a production platform deck after receiving an order from Talisman Sinopec UK. Eekels Pompen was then asked by Heerema Fabrication to design a solution for testing this refinery plant's cooling water system.

Because Heerema specifically wanted a self-contained system, Eekels decided to use water from a nearby river. This water needed to be carefully filtered to make it suitable for testing the cooling water system. The project team at Eekels designed a filtration system incorporating 12 filters to achieve the desired level of water purity.

To provide a supply of water to this filter array, three Hidrostal E05k- S submersible pumps were placed in the river. The fresh water from the river was passed through the filter array and then pumped through the cooling system at a maximum flow rate of 400 m3/h and pressure of 7 bars by two PP12 high-pressure pumps.

After the water had passed through the cooling system, it was discharged back into the river.
