Eekels provides cooling water for bridge road sections

In recent days, the whole of the Netherlands has been bathed in bright summer sunshine and extreme temperatures were recorded in some places, including Haarlem. These high temperatures cause bridge deck components to expand significantly and water has to be used to cool them to prevent jamming when they open and close. Strukton asked Eekels Pompen to help them cool down these bridge components using water pumped up from below.

The right equipment

Our pumps delivered an adequate flow of water to continuously cool down the bridge components during the heatwave. The Betsy 125 and 2 Betsy 100 dry self-priming pumps that were used are equipped with powerful vacuum systems to ensure automatic and rapid suction. Two Grindex drainage pumps were also used for this project. The pumps will continue to run until the temperatures drop to more normal values.
