Eekels supplies disaster-response pumps in Boskoop

During the night of 22 June, De Omringdijk pumping station on the south side of Boskoop, a village in South Holland renowned for its ‘green fingers’ and plant nurseries, was fighting a losing battle against a deluge of rainfall. With a maximum capacity of 260 cubic metres per minute, the desired water level simply could not be maintained. So, late in the day on Thursday, we received a call from the Hoogheemraadschap Rijnland (Rijnland Water Authority) asking if we could support them in their efforts to tackle this sudden emergency situation. From that moment on, our emergency service immediately shifted into top gear to help this customer.

Increased capacity

We immediately took action and deployed equipment that perfectly matched the water board’s requirements. This equipment included two Betsy 200 8” and two Betsy 300 12” polluted water pumps with a combined capacity of 4,000 cubic metres per hour, which is equivalent to almost 67 cubic metres per minute. Thanks to the temporary increase in capacity, the water level is now holding steady at the right height in this area. We were glad to help and proved we are the right place to come because this type of emergency project is right up our alley. In fact, Eekels is completely self-supporting when it comes to deploying people, equipment and transport. These assets allow us to act at lightning speed to resolve all of the customer’s needs and issues.
