Eekels supplies total concept for a sewer refurbishment project

Following on from the successful project in Roosendaal, Eekels has received another order from the regional sewer management contractor. This new project involves major refurbishment of the surface water sewer in Vlissingen. Eekels will also deliver and install the temporary traffic control system and arrange road closures.

The project will run for 10 weeks and be implemented in two equal phases. In the first phase, 2,300 m3/h of surface water will be pumped through a 720-metre long pipe with a diameter of 500 mm. This pipe run includes 5 major pipe bridges across roads, several of which have to span dual carriageways. In order to achieve the required pumping capacity, Eekels has supplied two Betsy 300 pumps and two Betsy 200 pumps in a parallel set-up. In addition, one Betsy 125M pump, one Betsy 125H pump and two Betsy 100 pumps are connected into the pipe run. All the pump sets have an external, double-walled, environmentally safe fuel tank.

The first system will be rearranged for the second phase of the project. The pipe run will be extended to 790 metres in length and the pipe bridges will be set up in different locations. The capacity required for the second phase amounts to roughly 1,850 m3/h. Eekels will connect two Betsy 300 pumps with one Betsy 200 pomp set up in parallel and a separate Betsy 100 to the pipework in order to provide this capacity. In the second phase, all the pump sets will also be equipped with an external, double-walled, environmentally safe fuel tank.
