Temporary pump systems and pipe bridges in the centre of Dordrecht

Sewer water is temporarily being pumped up from the sewer system and transported away “through the air” at a busy roundabout in the heart of Dordrecht by nine pump systems, complete with discharge pipes (Ø500 mm) and several pipe bridges. This solution is the only viable option for keeping traffic flowing. Furthermore, shops and homes had to remain accessible to the public, vehicles and residents. Eekels Pompen was asked to install and operate this extensive temporary pump system.

Logistics tour de force

During the works, Eekels Pompen maintained the flow of wastewater so that the underground sewers, which are managed by the municipality of Dordrecht, could be refurbished. Because very little space was available, transporting the pumps and pipes to the site and placing them required thorough preparation. Local parking spaces and streets needed to remain open at all times. Precise logistics planning ensured that everything went smoothly. The TPS is maintained by Eekels Pompen and also communicates directly with the 24/7 troubleshooting team.
